The Head of the representative office of the Standing Committee of the Union State in Minsk Marianna Shchetkina visit the State Forensic Examination Committee today 21 december 2023

In the modern world integration processes are of particular significance and an important condition for a successful partnership is the presence of close ties. The Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State, signed on December 8, 1999, became a solid foundation for cooperation between Belarus and Russia.

The Head of the representative office of the Standing Committee of the Union State in Minsk Marianna Shchetkina has told about the history of creation, stages of formation, structure and ongoing programs of the Union State today at a meeting with the staff of the State Committee.

For several years the structural departments of the State Committee and the Scientific and Practical Center participated in the program of the Union State “DNA identification”. This program aims to develop special DNA research technologies, designed to help solve the problems faced by law enforcement agencies of Russia and Belarus in identifying victims of natural and man-made disasters, local military conflicts and terrorist acts.
The active assistance and direct support of the Chairman of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus Alexey Volkov allowed to form the concept of the program “DNA identification 2”, the implementation of which, taking into account the experience of the program “DNA identification”, will facilitate the transition to scientific research of a wider range of application of DNA technologies and the development of scientifically based technologies for the genetic identification of criminally significant biological objects to increase the effectiveness of solving crimes.
The Chairman of the State Committee was thanked on behalf of the State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev for contribution to the formation and implementation of scientific, technical and innovative programs and projects of the Unified Scientific and Technical Space of the Union State.
Summarizing the results of the meeting Alexey Volkov thanked the Standing Committee of the Union State for its constant support and personally Marianna Shchetkina for her interesting and informative speech. The Chairman also noted that the State Committee, defining priority areas of international cooperation, focuses on the development of cooperation both in the Union State and the CIS. This is confirmed by the Agreement on the Formation of the Coordinating Council of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of forensic expert activity signed on October 13 this year at the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Bishkek and aimed at expanding the possibility of cooperation within the CIS in the field of forensic expert activity.
